Reptile Castle is a small breeder of numerous species (and growing) of reptiles that produces quality (not quantity) captive breed and born reptiles. We do not encourage beginner enthusiasts to purchase wild caught (WC) reptiles. However, sometimes purchasing WC is necessary to establish new bloodlines and new captive breed species/morphs within the herpetology community. However, we do on occasion sell captive hatched (CH) animals, but will state explicitly that they are captive hatched.
I have been a reptile enthusiast since I was a little boy collecting box turtles, snakes, toads, frogs, etc. I have had numerous reptiles as pets growing up through out my life. My wife Terri also loves to go “herping” any chance she gets with me and the kids. And yes, I have to catch everything unless the boys beat me to it.
I have been breeding reptile's since 1995. My goal is to breed quality reptiles. In addition, I feel strongly about educating the public on reptiles and speak at a few schools. I do not claim to know everything, but I know what works well for me with the animals I breed. Breeding reptiles and having one as a pet is an ongoing learning process for all of us. I do encourage, if purchasing from me to ask as many questions as possible.
It is important to know about the type of reptile before you purchase one. When people purchase from Reptile Castle, I like to make them aware of the size the reptile will get how log they will live etc. Unfortunately, we have all heard stories of snakes, iguanas and alligators just to name a few, that just get dumped in the woods and in ponds or taken to the Human Society because they are to big and unmanageable.
At Reptile Castle all of the reptiles are treated like royalty and that is the kind of reptile you'll want to own. I will stand behind my animals as one should. For example, look at my photo page you will see an Oustalet's chameleon, which is severely dehydrated. This was sold to me in my early years as a healthy chameleon. This person did not stand behind his animal, which I will not name at this time. If I wouldn't buy it, then I sure wouldn't sell it.
This web site will continue to evolve with time. I would like to post as much information as possible on my site with recommended web sites, books, care sheets etc.
Sincerely,
Jim & Terri
